WEATHER FORECAST: July please! Kilkenny’s in for week of two halves as June ends in washout
The miserable June we’ve endured so far this year is set to drag on for the next few days, with more unsettled conditions and heavy rainfall forecast for the early part of the week.
But it’s not all doom and gloom weather-wise and Met Éireann said Kilkenny will also enjoy some dry and sunny periods as we enter July and calmer conditions as we head into next weekend.
Today will be very cloudy with scattered outbreaks of rain and highest temperatures of between just 14 to 17 degrees. And it’s a similar cloudy story tomorrow, but the south east is likely to avoid much of the patchy rain and drizzle forecast for the north and west.
Things will start to brighten up on Wednesday as showers gradually die away and some bright spells develop in the evening, with maximum temperatures “generally 16 to 18 degrees”, according to the national forecaster.
Thursday will also be a mostly dry affair, but some spots of low cloud, mist and fog will be slow to clear with occasional bright spells developing by the afternoon, with the mercury rising to between 16 to 19 degrees.
Early forecasts suggest it will be a rather blustery and wet day on Friday, with calmer and drier conditions settling in over the weekend.
