WEATHER FORECAST: Kilkenny to bask in 20C heat for most of week

Kilkenny is set to bask in temperatures above 20 degrees for much of the week.

Met Éireann is predicting a “very mild” week with a “fair amount of dry weather” before it turns cooler again by next weekend.

The east will feel the best of the heat today and tomorrow as the western half of the country experiences some showers.

The national forecaster said today will be a mild and humid day, with dry weather in the east and top temperatures of between 18 degrees to 22 degrees.

And temperatures will soar even higher tomorrow when 23C heat is expected in Leinster. Showers will be mainly over western parts of Ireland and the best of the sunshine will be in the east.

Wednesday will be mild and cloudy with showery rain and some bright intervals. Temperatures will hit 16 degrees in the northeast, and between 21 degrees and 22 degrees in the midlands and west.

But things will start to take a turn from Thursday. Met Éireann said: “Thursday will be a bit cooler than previous days.

“Leinster and Ulster will be largely dry with sunny spells. Munster and Connacht will be cloudier with a good deal of dry weather and some showers, these mainly in the west.”
