WEATHER FORECAST: Kilkenny to enjoy dry, bright and mild weekend

Kilkenny and the south east are set to enjoy a mostly dry and bright weekend, with just the occasional patch of light rain or drizzle.

In its latest forecast, Met Éireann said today will continue windy ‘with showers or longer spells of rain’. But it added: “Some bright intervals also. Fresh to strong, gusty westerly winds will continue and will be strongest in the north and northwest of the country. Winds will gradually east through the evening and drier periods will develop also. Highest temperatures of 11 to 13 degrees.”

Tomorrow will be dry in most areas with a good deal of cloud and some bright or sunny spells, with the best of these in eastern parts. The national forecaster added: “Patchy light rain or drizzle will push in from the west during the day, mainly affecting Atlantic coasts. Highest temperatures of 11 to 14 or 15 degrees Celsius, in mostly light south or southwest winds, moderate to fresh in some western coastal parts.”

Met Éireann said it will be cloudy on Sunday with a little rain and drizzle, but these will mainly be in the west and north west. It added: “It will be mainly dry though further east. Mild with highest temperatures of 12 to 15 degrees.”

Any remaining rain in parts of the east and southeast will clear on Monday morning, giving way to a “mainly dry bright day … with some sunny spells” and highest temperatures of 11 to 14 degrees.

Tuesday will be rather cloudy with long dry periods, although there will be some light rain and drizzle spreading from the northwest and highest temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees forecast.

Met Éireann said Wednesday will be “a cooler day with some sunshine and scattered showers, some heavy in northern parts”, with highest temperatures of 7 to 11 degrees “in fresh and occasionally gusty westerly winds”.
