WEATHER FORECAST: Will we see glimpses of Summer in Kilkenny this weekend?

WE may finally see some signs of Summer next week, but for the moment we’ll have to content ourselves with the odd glimpses of sunshine in between heavy showers and unseasonably cool temperatures over the coming days.

Met Éireann this morning said the weather in Kilkenny and throughout Leinster will remain unsettled over the weekend.

There will be some bright and sunny spells today, but also “many showers heavy with a risk of thunder” and top temperatures of between 12 to 15 degrees.

Kilkenny, Carlow and Wexford will bear the brunt of more showers tonight, but the rain will die out for a spell tomorrow morning.

The national forecaster said tomorrow will be “a bright, fresh day with sunny spells, but some scattered showers” and top temperatures of between 13 to 15 degrees.

Sunday is also set to begin brightly, but will also be “a very showery day”.

Met Éireann added: “A few bright or short sunny spells, but the showers will be fairly widespread by lunchtime. Many will be heavy in the afternoon and early evening, with possibly a few thundery downpours in places. Top temperatures 14 to 17 degrees. Further showers overnight. Lows of 8 to 10 degrees.”

Monday, again, will begin “bright and breezy”, with short sunny spells, but there will also be widespread showers, many heavy, according to the national forecaster.
