WEEKEND WEATHER: Kilkenny braced for Big Chill as sub-zero temperatures hit
Kilkenny will feel the chill winds of a very cold snap as sub-zero temperatures are forecast over the weekend.
A 13-hour fog warning remains in place in neighbouring Waterford, Tipperary, Limerick and Cork until 10am this morning.
Kilkenny will wake up to a cold day today, with frost and the possibility of mist and fog. Met Éireann said: “The afternoon will bring mainly dry conditions with some bright spells, but overall cloudy with isolated showers – east Leinster seeing most of these. A cold day, with highest temperatures of only 4 to 8 degrees in light southeasterly or variable breezes.”
It will turn very cold and frosty overnight with patches of mist and fog as temperatures fall to as low as -1.
Tomorrow will bring a mix of cloud and bright spells with a few patches of rain or drizzle, mainly in eastern and southern coastal counties, and highest temperatures ranging from 8 to 12 degrees.
Met Éireann said most areas will be dru on Sunday with a mix of cloud and bright spells. But it added: “There will be some patches of rain and drizzle about, especially across north Connacht and Ulster. Highest temperatures of 9 to 12 degrees in mostly light, variable winds. It looks set to be predominantly dry overnight but with a few patches of rain, drizzle and mist. Lowest temperatures of 5 to 8 degrees with just light breezes.”
The national forecaster said high pressure will remain positioned close to Ireland for Monday and Tuesday, bringing mostly dry weather but with “some scattered patches of rain and drizzle”.
