Wheels of justice: Garda warning following spate of bike thefts in Kilkenny city

Kilkenny cyclist are being urged to take extra caution when storing their bikes as the worrying trend in bike theft continues.

More bikes have been reported stolen this week in the city following on from a number of thefts reported over the previous weeks.

In one instance, a grey mountain bike was stolen last Saturday evening sometime between 6.30 and 7.30pm from the Sycamores in Aylesbury on the Freshford Road.

The owner had locked her bike to railings, but when she returned about an hour later to retrieve it the bike was gone, as was the lock.

Gardai are asking anyone who may have witnessed anything suspicious in the area around the time to contact Kilkenny Garda Station on 056 777 5000.
