With one out-of-bounds he was free: Dara Calleary resigns as Minister for Agriculture

Minister for Agriculture Dara Calleary is resigning from Cabinet after attending a golf outing dinner on Wednesday.

Also in attendance at an Oireachtas Golf Society event in a hotel in Clifden, Co Galway were EU commissioner Phil Hogan from Kilkenny, independent TD Noel Grealish, Supreme Court Judge Seamus Woulfe, Waterford Senator John Cummins and former RTÉ broadcaster Sean O’Rourke.

This is the second Agriculture Minister lost to Taoiseach Micheál Martin and the Government in just over a month after Brian Cowen resigned in July over a drink-driving incident.
