Work gets underway on South Kilkenny’s new Greenway
Work has begun on the new Greenway through county Kilkenny which will link Waterford city to New Ross.
The Mayor of Waterford, Cllr Damien Geoghegan (pictured left below), joined workers as construction got underway on the old New Ross to Waterford railway line this week.
Cllr Geoghegan said on social media: “Early start this morning. This latest addition to the Southeast Greenway Network commences in New Ross (Wexford) and runs through South-Kilkenny and on into the centre of Waterford City, where it will link up with The Waterford Greenway.
“When completed in the Spring of 2022, The Greenway will link the towns of NewRoss (Wexford) and Dungarvan (Waterford) via Waterford City.”
Cllr Geoghegan added: “Excellent co-operation between the local authorities in the Southeast, which is delivering for the region.”
