KILKENNY’S Ciaran Brennan has been picked to start in Ireland’s U-19 European semi-final against Portugal today.
Brennan, who plays his club soccer with Sheffield Wednesday, has been picked to start in a front three for Ireland in Armenia this afternoon.
Ireland made it to the semi-finals after drawing with Norway and beating Czechia in a must-win game on Sunday evening.
Tom Mohan’s team are aiming to become the first Irish team to make a European final in soccer since Brian Kerr’s U-16s and U-18s both won the titles in 1999.
The match kicks off at 3.00 pm in Yerevan, Armenia and is live on RTE 2.
The 18-year-old signed his first professional contract with Sheffield Wednesday last summer.
