Anti-racism rally to take place in Kilkenny this weekend

A multicultural event celebrating diversity will take place in Kilkenny city at 2pm this Sunday.

The event at Kilkenny Castle Parade is being staged by United Against Racism Kilkenny.

Organisers said the event will showcase “a fantastic selection of local talent”, including Liam Regan from the Carlow Poetry Society, the House Of Fleek dance group, dancers from the Sudanese Community, speakers from Rohingya Action Ireland and Black Lives Matter activist Amada Adé.

Stephanie Hanlon of United Against Racism said it will be “a family friendly event and free to attend”.

Stephanie added: “2020 has been a year of uncertainty, but one thing we can be certain of is the sense of community and solidarity that has helped us get through it. Kilkenny is a city of welcomes. The idea of this event is to bring people together to celebrate our diversity and enhance cultural awareness and we would love to see a good turnout in support of it.”
