46-year-old man dies following vicious assault in Kilkenny
A 46-year old man has died following a serious assault in Kilkenny in the early hours of yesterday morning.
The man had been receiving medical treatment for serious head injuries in St Luke’s General Hospital in Kilkenny but lost his battle for life overnight
A man in his 30s remains in custody this morning in relation to a violent assault that occurred at High Hayes Terrace in the early hours of Thursday morning.
A woman who had been arrested in connection with the incident was released from Garda custody yesterday morning.
It is understood the deceased is a father.
Gardai and technical investigations units are still at the scene of the incident. The is to be removed to Dublin for a post mortem exam today.
Gardaí have reissued their appeal for anyone with information, or anyone who was driving in the MacDonagh Junction/High Hayes Terrace/Johns Green area of the city between 3am and 5am and may have dashcam footage, to contact Kilkenny Garda Station on 056 777 5000.
