5-Star Kilkenny resort tees up plans for new apartments
Kilkenny’s five-star Mount Juliet has unveiled plans for new accommodation on the grounds of its award-winning resort and golf club.
The Thomastown venue, which hosts this year’s Dubai Duty Free Irish Open, has applied for planning permission for the new development to Kilkenny County Council
Developers IKerrin Properties Ltd are seeking to remove existing sheds on a site measuring 6100sq mts to make way for 16 new apartments and one house.
The developers said: “The proposed development will consist of the demolition of four single storey maintenance buildings and provision of eight own-door two- bed apartments in two two-storey buildings.”
All of the 16 apartments will come with “balconies provided on first floor, on the front and rear elevations”.
The developer is also seeking approval to build “a two-storey detached dwelling with detached single storey garage”.
If granted permission, the new accommodation will have a new entrance from the existing estate service road, which will be widened to facilitate the development.
None of the protected structures on the grounds of Mount Juliet Estate will be affected by the development.
The council is expected to decide on the application by the middle of July.
