50,000 foodies to descend on city this weekend to Savour Kilkenny

By COLIN BARTLEY
UP to 50,000 people will get a taste of what Kilkenny has to offer as they flock to the Marble City this weekend for one of Ireland’s biggest and most popular food festivals.
Now in its 13th year, Savour Kilkenny’s jam-packed programme will bring an aroma to the air and a buzz to the centre of the city.
Some of the world’s leading culinary experts and artisans will grace the stages and stalls of Savour Kilkenny, which runs until next Monday. The hub of the event is centred around The Parade.
Clodagh McKenna will make her debut at Savour Kilkenny and will be joined by Edward Hayden and Anne Neary. Irish culinary stars Paul Flynn, Catherine Fulvio, Rory O’ Connell and Mount Juliet’s Ken Harker and John Kelly will also appear at the festival.
Best-selling Australian author and national TV star, Kim McCosker brings her popular “4 Ingredients” thinking to the Savour Stage.
The highlights of the festival will take place on the Savour Your Wellness Stage, the Savour Stage and the Market on the Parade. There is plenty to do at the family and kids areas, while there will be drinks and dining events dotted around the city. The festival will host many talks throughout the weekend at various locations, so there is plenty to explore and lots of the events are free.
Some innovative events are taking place are Kathryn Thomas’s fitness bootcamp in Kilkenny Castle, Owen Murphy’s Organic Wines talk and tasting event with Wines Direct, Brian O’Toole’s Introduction to Beekeeping, Tom Coleman’s Overcoming Sleeping Problems, and a workshop on essential oils with Sharon Hearne Smith.
