Brave Kilkenny lads complete one of world’s most gruelling cycle races

A TEAM of Kilkenny cyclists have completed one of the world’s toughest endurance races and raised a lot of money for a local charity in the process.

The four-man team from Castlecomer consisting of Pat Maher, John Dowd, Seamus Nash, and Cathal Phillips took on the 5,000km non-stop Race Across America to raise money for the Aspect Autism Unit in Kilkenny.

The race started in Oceanside, California and ended in Annapolis, Maryland, with the team crossing the finish line last Saturday after a grueling week in the saddle.

Team Aspect, the name the four men took,  were joined on the epic ride by a crew of 16.

Aspect Kilkenny provides specialised day services to adults with autism spectrum disorder and intellectual disability.
