Kilkenny crime gang suffer major blow as gardai seize huge stash of cash

A CRIME gang based in Kilkenny suffered a major setback after gardai seized a huge stash of cash believed to be the profits of crime.

In all €24,000 in cash was discovered during a search of a premises in Kilkenny City this afternoon. The money was in both euros and sterling.

The search was carried out by the Kilkenny Detective Unit and was a planned operation targeting an organised crime group. Gardai believe the gang is involved in thefts, burglaries and crime in the Kilkenny/Carlow area.

Gardai say the money seized during the search is suspected of being the proceeds of crime.

The gardai in Kilkenny say investigations are ongoing.
