€30,000 scholarships on offer to Kilkenny students from disadvantaged backgrounds

A NEW bursary worth up to €30,000 and aimed at Kilkenny students from disadvantaged backgrounds is open for applications.

Waterford Institute of Technology is looking for new part-time and full-time students from a socio-economically disadvantaged background (and meet eligibility criteria)  to apply for the 1916 Bursary.

Each student who is awarded the 1916 Bursary will receive €5,000 for each year of their undergraduate programme of study up to a maximum of €20,000 for full-time students and a maximum of €30,000 for part-time students.

But students must be quick to act as the closing date for applications is Friday, 30 August. There are 35 bursaries on offer across five colleges of which WIT  is included in.

Robin Croke, Access Project Co-ordinator, WIT explains: “The 1916 Bursary is worth €5000 on an annual basis for each recipient for the duration of their full time or part time course here in WIT.

“There are two stages to the application process and the first stage is a straightforward expression of interest application form which is open until 5pm on the 30th of August.”
