Glanbia given green light for massive R&D expansion in county Kilkenny
It has been a good week for Glanbia and a good week for the local economy following Kilkenny County Council’s approval of Glanbia Ireland’s plans to significantly expand its Research and Development (R&D) capability and facility in county Kilkenny.
The huge expansion, near doubling the size of the existing R&D development, is part of Glanbia’s plans to future proof the company by investments, R&D and diversifying their range of products.
This week, Kilkenny County Council approved plans for the huge expansion to Glanbia’s R&D facility at its headquarters in Ballyconra, Ballyragget, which will consist of a two-storey extension to the existing R&D facility on its Glanbia Ingredients Ireland milk plant.
The new R&D facility will be built on a site currently being used as a car park at the Ballyragget facility.
This is the second huge investment by Glanbia in Kilkenny this week. Kilkenny Council also gave the green light to Glanbia plans to build a €140 million continental cheese-manufacturing facility in Belview.
