Acclaimed Kilkenny glamping site pitches plans to consolidate success
One of Kilkenny’s coolest accommodation venues has applied to the council looking to retain upgrades that have been central to their success.
Legan Castle near Thomastown is consistently featured in lists of Ireland’s best and coolest campsites and is now looking to add some more pods to attract more tourists.
The application, originally submitted in April, is for a change of use from agricultural land to a seasonal bell tent (glamping) development.
The proposed development would see the erection of five new bell tents and the retention of two converted outbuildings used seasonally for dining areas, offices, and as bathrooms and showers. The application states the outbuildings are protected buildings.
Kilkenny County Council’s planning division requested further information about the development at Legan Castle Farmhouse back in May.
Now that information has been provided, the council is expected to annouce its decision before Christmas.
