Kilkenny teenager threatened at knifepoint in city, thief steals phone and money
A terrified teenager was held up at knifepoint and had his phone and money stolen in Kilkenny city early this morning.
The victim, a male in his late teens, was on John’s Street in Kilkenny city at 2.15am when he was approached by a man who asked to use his phone.
The teen initially refused to hand over his iPhone 8 to the man, but eventually did after he was intimidated. When he asked for his phone back, the man told him he had a knife and to hand over his money.
The teen handed over €20 under duress and the man then fled in the direction of the Library car park with the cash and the iPhone.
The teen was uninjured but shaken up by the experience.
Gardai are investgiating the incident. They have urged anyone potential witnesses or anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the area at the time to contact Kilkenny Garda Station on 056 777 5000.
