Seven horses in Kilkenny may have to be put down unless owner comes forward
Seven horses recovered from land on the outskirts of Kilkenny city may have to be put down if their owners do not come forward within a week.
That’s the message Kilkenny County Council has released after it was forced to rescue seven horses that were loose on the outskirts of Kilkenny city.
The horses, six female and one male, were recovered from the Salt Yards, Hebron Road, Kilkenny on Wednesday.
Upon inspection, it was discovered that just four of the horses were microchipped. One of the horses is 20 years old, while the others are 12, 10, 9, 6 and two are yearlings.
A council spokesperson said: “Should these animals remain unclaimed after close of business on Tuesday, January 14, they will be sold, rehomed, or be disposed of.”
