Thieves steal heavy duty cable from Kilkenny depot

Some 180 meters of heavy-duty communications cable has been stolen from a work depot in county Kilkenny.

The heavy cable, which was stored at an Eircom depot in Threecastles, was stolen sometime between 6pm on Friday, March 13 and the morning of Wednesday, March 18.

Eircom employees returning to work after St Patrick’s Day noticed the large spool of cabling had vanished and reported the theft to the gardai.

A local garda source told KilkennyNow.ie: “This overhead cabling is very heavy so who ever took it would have had to have a machine to lift it and transport to carry it out of the depot.

“We are asking for anyone who may have been offered a large amount of metal of cable to buy recently to contact us. Or if anyone noticed anything suspicious in the Threecastles area at that time to let us know.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Kilkenny Garda Station on 056 777 5000.
