Kilkenny TD McGuinness misses out on new Dáil Covid-19 committee chair
Independent TD Michael McNamara has been appointed chair of the Covid-19 committee meaning Kilkenny TD John McGuinness misses out in the process.
Deputy McGuinness was hoping to get the nod from his Fianna Fáil party to be nominated for the position of chair of the Dáil committee.
The newly elected chair thanked the 19 member committee for selecting him and said he hoped the committee could operate on a collegial manner.
Fine Gael, Fianna Fáil and Sinn Féin each have four members in the committee and each of the other parties and groups has one member.
The committee has been established to scrutinise and review the actions of the Government, State authorities and other agencies in dealing with the coronavirus pandemic.
