Festive wedding bells ring out for John Paul and his stunning new bride Claire
FESTIVE wedding bells have rung out for Kilkenny Minister John Paul Phelan and his stunning new bride Claire McTernan.
The pair got married in Claire’s native Co Leitrim over the weekend, in the family’s local church in Dromahair.
After the ceremony, the wedding party celebrated at the Castle Dargan Hotel in Ballygawley, Co Sligo.
Taoiseach Leo Varadkar and his partner Matt Barrett were among the guests.
Dublin North West TD Noel Rock and Sligo-Leitrim TD Tony McLoughlin also intended, along with former Fine Gael minister Lucinda Creighton and her husband.
Minister Phelan is facing a busy year ahead in 2019. The Ferrybank resident is in charge of local government reform and he was also recently appointed as the national director of elections for Fine Gael in next May’s local council and European elections.
Ms McTernan is a teacher in Kilkenny. Her family also has strong Fine Gael roots. She is a long time party activist and the daughter of former Leitrim FG county councillor, John McTernan.
