‘Silent and empty’ – Gardai thank public as Kilkenny’s beautiful streets fall quiet

The streets of Kilkenny city on the August Bank Holiday weekend are usually alive with the sights and sounds of revellers enjoying themsleves, especially at night.

But as these pictures taken by local gardai show, the beautiful Marble City was “silent and empty” last night.

Strange times indeed, but Kilkenny gardai took to social media today to thank members of the public “staying the course”.

They posted these pictures with the simple message: “Silent and empty streets in our beautiful city last night … Thank you everyone for staying the course.”
