WEATHER FORECAST: Winter is coming … but Kilkenny to enjoy dry and sunny start to weekend

Kilkenny’s looking good for the weekend if you fancy enjoying the outdoors before the onslaught of winter and the cold, dark nights ahead.

Met Éireann said today will “another mostly dry day” with sunny spells and just a few scattered showers, adding: “A little more cloud than previous days. Highs of 11 to 13 degrees, in a light to moderate easterly breeze, fresh to strong on southern and western coasts.”

The national forecaster said a weather front approaching the south west will bring the threat of “some rain or drizzle” to the southern part of the country. But otherwise it will be mostly dry with bright spells and scattered showers and temperature highs of between 12 or 13 degrees.

Sunday’s looking a bit murkier, however, with Met Éireann warning: “It is likely that cloud will increase through Sunday, with rain crossing the country Sunday night. Highs of 11 to 14 degrees, in light southerly winds.”

Early indications suggest we’re in for more unsettled weather from early next week, “with possibly some heavy rain and strong winds at times”, according to Met Éireann.
