Popular Kilkenny shopping centre plans to transform vacant units into office space

A popular Kilkenny shopping centre has decided to move with the times and is looking to convert some of its vacant retail units into work offices.

The MacDonagh Junction Co-Ownership & Davy Target Investing ICAV have applied to Kilkenny County Council for a change of use on six retail units at MacDonagh Junction Shopping Centre to be redesignated as office space.

The plans centre around existing vacant ground floor retail units 4A and 4B and First Floor retail units 2, 4A ,4B and 4C, parts of which are within the former workhouse, a protected structure.

The centre’s management hope to create open-plan office spaces, private offices, private office pods, a reception area, meeting rooms, canteen, toilets, general staff facilities and stores.

The work proposed by the shopping centre’s management relate to fitout works only and there are no proposals to heighten the current building, parts of which are a protected structure.
