Driver stopped by Kilkenny gardai at local checkpoint had no windscreen on car
Local gardai were amazed when they stopped a car at a checkpoint that has no front windscreen.
The vehicle was stopped at a checkpoint conducted by members of the Kilkenny-Carlow Roads Policing Unit and the Road Safety Authority (RSA).
The operation was primarily aimed at poicing the safety compliance of commercial vehicles, trucks and buses.
However, a local Garda spokesperson said that while checking the vehicles one of the officers took particular “issue with one car who had nothing in the windscreen – in fact no windscreen at all!”.
Gardai have urged motorists to ensure their vehciles comply with safety standards. Aside from being fitted with windscreenasked drivers to ask themselves if they are fit to drive and if their vehicle is “fit for the road” before getting behind the wheel.
