BREAKING: Kilkenny records one of lowest rates of infections nationally among 4,929 new cases of virus
A further eight people have died after contracting the coronavirus as 4,929 new cases of Covid-19 were confirmed this evening.
It brings the overall death toll as a result of the virus to 2,352. There has now been 152,359 confirmed cases of Covid-19 across the country, according to the latest daily briefing from the National Public Health Emergency Team (NPHET).
The breakdown of the latest cases is as follows: 1,513 in Dublin, 695 in Cork, 320 in Limerick, 305 in Wexford, 225 in Galway and the remaining 1,871 cases are spread across all other counties, including 39 further infections in Kilkenny.
Only Longford, Offaly and Cavan recorded lower case figures in the latest statement.
