SPONSORED: Strike! Kilkenny groups bowled over by ‘Varied Ability’ tournament

A WEEKLY ‘Varied Ability’ bowling tournament is attracting huge numbers of players and groups from across Kilkenny city and county.

Kilkenny’s KBowl at MacDonagh Junction Shopping Centre launched the first ‘Varied Ability’ tournament back in October.

The event proved to be a huge hit, and organisers have just launched a new tournament for 2019.

Some of the local groups taking part in the tournament, which takes place every Wednesday between 11am and 12pm, include Kilkenny SOS, the National Learning Network and KITE.

Kilkenny man David Kenny (pictured above) said the ‘Varied Ability’ tournament is a great way to socialise and meet new friends.

He added: “I love to come to KBowl with the SOS every week, its great fun with lots of new friends.”

A carer for one of the local groups taking part in the weekly event said: “’The enjoyment I have seen from our clients from partaking in this tournament is wonderful. KBowl offers a fun, safe environment where their disability does not hold them back from socialising with friends with a bit of fun competitiveness thrown in.”

KBowl Events Manager Cara Brennan said: “The Varied Ability Tournament originally started up in October for 10 weeks. Over the 10 weeks we seen the number grow and we were delighted to welcome lots of new faces. Due to the fantastic interest we have decided to start it up again for 2019.”
