Waterworks cause traffic disruption in city; homes left without water in Callan
MANY homes and businesses in Callan will be temporarily without water today as “essential” works to repair leaks in our system continue.
In Kilkenny city, works are continuing to replace 500 metres of old cast iron water mains on Dean Street.
Kilkenny County Council said a “stop and go” traffic management system will be in operation Monday to Friday between now and March 1.
The council also confirmed householders in Callan will face disruptions to their water supply today.
Supplies will be cut off in the West Street, Abhainn Ri, Mullaunglas and Mollassy areas from 9.30am until 11.30am this morning.
Some 33 homes in Kingscourt will be without water between 10.30am and 12.30pm, while a further 25 houses between Mallardstown and Callan Golf Club will have their supplies cut between the hours of 12pm and 2pm.
Kilkenny County Council and Irish Water have apologised “for any inconvenience caused”.
