Castlecomer looking to crown Kilkenny’s Rose in 2019
THE Rose of Tralee is coming to Castlecomer for the first time ever.
And the winner of the event due to take place this Saturday, February 9, could be the lucky girl who goes on to step into the shoes of last year’s Kilkenny Rose Helena Hughes (pictured above with Kilkenny coach Brian Cody) at the Dome in Tralee this August.
The event will kick off in Shortalls Bar & Lounge in The Square at 9pm.
Lyn Moloney and Steve Cronly from the Kilkenny Rose Centre will be on hand to guide the girls throughout the evening.
Lyn told KilkennyNow.ie: “We are really looking forward to Saturday’s event – this is the first time it’s been held in Castlecomer, but hopefully it will become an annual affair.
“Becoming involved in the Rose of Tralee can really benefit local businesses, and of course it can also have a real life changing impact on the lives of the girls who go on to represent their counties in the final in Tralee.”
The chosen girl will represent Castlecomer at the Kilkenny Rose of Tralee Selection 2019 in the Ormonde Hotel in April.
Breda Heary of the Castlecomer Rose Committee added: “This is a fantastic opportunity to get involved in a very positive event that can only benefit the community. All funds raised will go to The boy’s National School in Castlecomer.”
