Garda hospitalised after patrol car was rammed at checkpoint in county Kilkenny
A garda was injured after a patrol car was rammed at a checkpoint in county Kilkenny.
The incident occurred near Callan at 4.30pm yesterday.
A local Garda source confirmed two officers were manning the check point when a four-wheel drive vehicle approached. The 4×4 failed to stop and rammed into the patrol car, injuring one of the gardai.
The Garda was taken to St Luke’s Hospital in Kilkenny, where their injuries were described as not serious.
It is not clear if this is the same 4×4 gardai were in looking for yesterday afternoon after it was stolen in Killenaule in county Tipperary shortly after 3pm yesterday afternoon.
That 4×4 was spotted in county Kilkenny a short time later before being discovered abandoned in New Ross yesterday evening.
No arrests have been made in relation to the incident, but gardai have launched a full investigation.
