Driver overtook milk tanker and almost caused carnage on busy Kilkenny road

A rogue driver almost caused a major accident on the outskirts of Kilkenny city after they overtook a milk tanker and a long line of cars and narrowly escaped crashing into an oncoming vehicle.

The incident occurred at Templemartin on a stretch of road that runs from Hebron to the M9 Junction 8 on Tuesday at 6.05pm.

A local Garda spokesperson told KilkennyNow.ie: “A car, only described as a small black car, overtook a Milk Tanker which was travelling towards Kilkenny with a line of cars behind it. A vehicle travelling in the opposite direction (towards the M9) had to take urgent avoidance action.

“The offending vehicle veered across the road and passed the oncoming vehicle at high speed on the passenger side crossing both lanes of traffic and continuing in the direction of Kilkenny.”
