Storm Barra whips up some strange sights in Kilkenny

Kilkenny was fortunate enough to escape the full brunt of Storm Barra, but the crazy weather did throw up some rather strange sights.

This trampoline somehow managed to bounce its way down a section of the Castlecomer Road before becoming wedged up against an electricity pole.

Bemused gardai and members of Kilkenny Fire Service arrived at the scene to recover the runaway trampoline and make the area safe again.

A local Garda spokesperson commented: “The possibility of injury in so many ways is huge. Beware of poorly secured objects like trampolines and garden furniture being moved in these conditions.”

Meanwhile, Met Éireann last night said Storm Barra has “now cleared Ireland” as continue to ease across the country.

A spokesperson for the ESB Networks confirmed around 13,000 customers are still without power, but these are largely confined to counties along the western and northwestern seaboard.

Emergency crews are working this morning to restore power to as many customers as possible.
