House prices in Kilkenny city and county continue to rise: daft.ie survey

HOUSE prices in Kilkenny city and county are continuing to rise, new figures reveal.

Overall the price of a home in Kilkenny rose by 4.8% to €224,161 in the first three months of the year, according to the latest Daft.ie analysis of the property market.

This is just below the 5.9% national average rise in house prices in the first quarter of 2019.

And it is considerably lower than the rises recorded in neighbouring Carlow, which experienced property price rises of 10.4%, one of the largest increases recorded in the county.

Waterford also experienced significant growth of 10.3%, with the average price of a house in the city now standing at €181,948

However, the market is showing some signs of cooling, especially in the capital.

Dublin prices are 4.1% higher than last year compared to an average of 7.1% for the rest of the country. The national average increase in the first three months of this year was 5.9%. During the same period of 2017 the market saw increases of 10%.

Supply is a significant price factor. More than 22,500 properties were available to buy on the market nationwide this month, an 11% increase compared to this time last year.
