Aussie Annie’s 15,500km mission to track down her South Kilkenny family
A YOUNG Australian woman has travelled across the world in a mission to track down her relatives in South Kilkenny.
Annie Moroney is trying to trace surviving relatives in the Ballyhale area, and in the process help to heal a family heartache spanning over a century.
Annie’s grandmother Mary Kelly was just 19 when she left her home in Ballyhale following the tragic death of her brother Michael.
Mary’s family owned a dairy farm in the area, and Annie is hoping to find relatives who may be living in Kilkenny.
Annie shared her story with locals when she popped into Billy’s Tearooms and Shop (pictured above) this week, and the popular cooperative venue was happy to help her to spread the word.
If you can help, or know anyone who may be familiar with Annie’s family history you can contact Billy’s Tearooms directly or the KilkennyNow.ie newsroom on 056 780 6728.
