A special project: Kilkenny school gets green light for new extension

Plans to extend a local primary school have been given the green light.
Kilkenny County Council has granted planning to the Board of Management of St Beacon’s National School in Mullinavat after they sought permission to build an extension onto its existing building.
The new building will be made up of two special education needs rooms, a link corridor to the existing school building and “all associated services and site works”.
The mixed-gender school currently caters for around 185 students and currently has seven classrooms, a general purpose room and a resource room.
