Excitement as Kilkenny’s new Skatepark grinds into action this weekend
The long-awaited skatepark built as part of the new area of Kilkenny city centre opens to boarders from today.
The park, part of the new Abbey Quarter, will see its firsts grinds and rails this weekend.
It’s one of the first pieces of the overall Abbey Quarter, built on the site of the former Smithwicks Brewery to open for civic use.
The skatepark can be accessed from the Greensbridge side of the development and hopes to have the remainder of the Urban Park open soon.
A council spokesperson said: “The Council is working hard to open the remainder of the area at the Riverside Park as soon as possible.”
