Air Bridge of Sighs: Quarantine travel rule stays for Britain as face masks to be made compulsory on public transport – reports

A plan to make face masks compulsory on public transport is expected to be presented to the Cabinet later today, according to reports this morning.

The move will permit public transport operators to ease the two-metre social distancing rule and allow services to run at 50% capacity.

Meanwhile, another plan to create ‘air bridges’ that will see people travelling between between EU countries excluded from the 14-day quarantine rule will also be discussed at Cabinet today.

However, the Irish Independent is reporting that people flying from Britain will still be required to self-isolate for 14 days despite the likely diplomatic fallout that may cause.

The National Public Health Emergency Team is due to meet this evening to discuss Phase 3 of the roadmap for easing restrictions.
