Average house in Kilkenny city and county now valued at €213,500: survey
HOUSE Prices in Kilkenny largely remained static in the last three months of the year, new figures reveal.
The average house price in Kilkenny now stands at €213,500, a rise of just 0.06% on the previous quarter in 2018.
This is exactly the same figure for the average national rise in home values for the same period, according to the Q4 REA Average House Price Survey.
The report found the property market was struck with paralysis in the last quarter of the year, as lending rules and Brexit concerns effectively froze prices.
In Kilkenny city and county, and across most parts of the country, the values of average homes either rose by tiny increments or stayed still during one of the slowest quarters for house-price inflation nationally since the crash.
The lack of lending-rule exemptions at this time of year also contributed to the slowdown.
Around half of all markets surveyed showed no growth at all, according to the Irish Independent/Real Estate Alliance (REA) Average House Price Index published today.
