Cheers! Award-winning Kilkenny bar gets green light for expansion
An award-winning Kilkenny bar and restaurant has been given approval to extend its premises.
Kilkenny County Council has given Paris Texas permission to convert an existing storage area at the back of its bulding on High Street into staff facilities and a modernised storage area.
The well-known building is a protected structure and is located in the City Centre Architectural Conservation Area.
The building where the work will take place is known as ‘Shee House’, a terraced four-bay, two-storey structure originally dating back to 1580. In 1928 it was partially demolished to make way for the old Woolworths Store.
The pub’s owners, Paris Texas, Nirokay Ltd, can now proceed with their plans to build 68m2 of new first floor area incorporating a staff locker area, staff rest area/canteen, staff WC /showers and additional storage area for dry goods.
