Award-winning Kilkenny restaurant overcomes objections to secure planning for major expansion

An award-winning and hugely popular Kilkenny restaurant has been given the green light for exciting new expansion plans following objections to the national planning authority.

In April Kilkenny County Council granted permission to Ristorante Rinuccini on Kilkenny’s Parade to transform a former workshop on the ground floor and transform it into a new dining area.

However, the owners of No 8 The Parade appeal the council’s decision to An Bord Pleanála as they were concerned about potential access issues arising from the plans. Ristorante Rinnuccini has a leasehold on a portion of the building.

After examining the proposal from Rinnuccini’s and the objections An Bord Pleanála decided to uphold Kilkenny Council’s decision and granted planning permission for the expansion.

The multi-award-winning fine diner will now be able to create a new 71sq mt room in the centre of the restaurant, which will almost double the size of its dining area.

As the former workshop is a protected structure, minimal material changes will be made to the structure.
