Back of the net: Kilkenny woman lands plum UEFA role
A Kilkenny woman has landed a plum role with European football’s governing body which will see her ensuring teams across Europe stay onside.
Áine Power has been appointed to sit on UEFA ‘s Control Ethics and Disciplinary Body, the group that decides punishments for clubs that break the rules.
Power, who is based in the Swiss city of Lausanne where UEFA’s offices are based, had been working as the Deputy Legal Director of the International Equestrian Federation (FEI). Áine is already familiar with international footballing bodies after graduating from the FIFA Masters in Management Law and Humanities of Sports course.
She was nominated to the position by internal UEFA administration for a position on the body and is one of six new people selected to sit on the disciplinary board.
