Masked thieves caught drilling into side of van parked on busy Kilkenny street
A van owner returned to where his vehicle was parked in Kilkenny city to discover a masked man drilling into the side of his white Volkswagon Transporter as an accomplice stood watch nearby.
The shocking incident occurred on Ormonde Street between 8.30pm and 9pm on Thursday.
A local Garda spokesperson told KilkennyNow.ie: “The owner of a van returned to his parked van to find a man drilling into the side of his white Volkswagen Transporter, another man was standing watch. The two men fled to a waiting vehicle, a dark coloured Audi. Both were wearing dark clothing with bandanas over their mouths.”
The sliding side door of the victim’s vehicle was damaged in the incident.
Gardai are trying to trace the thieves involved in the attempted robbery. Anyone with information or dash cam footage of the incident is urged to contact Kilkenny Garda Station on 056 777 5000.
