Kellie’s family stunned by Kilkenny fan’s special surprise at bottom of bag of spuds

This big-hearted Kilkenny fan dropped in a bag of spuds to the family of Ireland’s golden girl Kellie Harrington on his way to Croke Park to watch the Cats in action.

And – to the amazement of the family – he left a special surprise at the bottom of the bag for the family!

The photo of the Kilkenny man handing his gift to Kellie’s brother Joel at their home on Portland Row in Dublin’s north inner city went viral on social media.

But it subsequently emerged the hurling fan had tucked a little something extra into the bag along with the potatoes.

Kellie’s stunned mother Yvonne said afterwards: “Do you know, that man put €100 in the bag of spuds!. I thought it was a joke. The bag was closed but he said [to Joel]: ‘There’s a bag of spuds for Kellie and a few bob for your ma.'”

Yvonne added: “People have been amazing, they’ve handed in some beautiful presents. My kitchen is like a florist!”
