BREAKING: Kilkenny gardai hunt ‘smash-and-grab’ gang who broke into filling station overnight
KILKENNY gardai are hunting for a ‘smash-and-grab’ gang who broke into a local filling station overnight.
The incident occurred in the early hours of this morning in Freshford.
The gang forced their way into the premises and stole a quantity of cash.
The alarm on the premises was activated at around 2am, and it appears the thieves left in a hurry as there were several discarded items left behind at the scene.
The thieves made their escape in a dark coloured car.
A Garda source told KilkennyNow.ie the robbery was similar to another recent raid on a filling station in Fethard, Co Tipperary, a fortnight ago.
Gardai are today appealing to anyone who may have noticed any suspicious activity in the Freshford area at the time to contact Kilkenny Garda Station on 056 777 5000.
