TWO men have been arrested and a huge haul of cannabis seized after gardai uncovered a sophisticated drugs operation in Kilkenny.
An estimated €70,000 worth of cannabis was discovered when gardai swooped on the growhouse in Callan last night as part of a planned operation by the Kilkenny-Carlow Drugs Unit targeting the sale and supply of drugs.
During the raid of the premises, which is located close to the Tipperary border, gardai discovered €3,000 worth of harvested cannabis ready for sale and around €65,000 worth of plants close to maturing.
A local Garda spokesperson described the operation as a “a sophisticated growhouse”.
Two men were arrested and taken to Kilkenny Garda Station, where they are currently being detained for questioning.
