Kilkenny’s worst road accident blackspot revealed
By COLIN BARTLEY
KILKENNY’S worst accident blackspot has been revealed. A stretch of the N78 through Castlecomer town has been confirmed as Kilkenny’s worst blackspot, according to new statistics published today. That stretch of road in the north of the county has witnessed no fewer than 110 incidents.
The accident information was compiled by Gamma Location Intelligence, a data analysis company, which released its findings on Ireland’s most treacherous roads.
Their data is based on collision rates, determined by the number of road accidents per 100 million vehicle kilometres between 2015 and 2017.
Gamma’s Perilfinder platform has a road accident model that collects and analyses data from the Road Safety Authority, Transport Infrastructure Ireland and the Central Statistics Office, to come up with the results.
