Burglars steal cash and jewellery after trashing neighbouring houses in county Kilkenny village

Two neighbouring houses in a county Kilkenny village were broken into and ransacked in quick succession last weekend.

Both incidents happened on the New Road in Mooncoin between 3pm and 5.45pm last Friday, December 6.

At the first house targeted the burglars broke a kitchen window at the rear of the house in order to gain entry. They then set about turning the house over before finding cash and making their escape.

At the second house, the burglars again gained entry by forcing a window at the rear of the house open. Once again the burglars ransacked the home before finding cash and jewellery, including gold chains, gold rings and a gold watch.

Anyone with information or who may have seen anything suspicious in the area last Friday afternoon is asked to contact Mooncoin Garda Station on 051 895 122.
