CakeFace co-owner Laura Gannon shortlisted for Businesswoman of the Year Awards 2018
LAURA Gannon – co-owner of CakeFace – has been shortlisted within the prestigious IMAGE Businesswoman of the Year Awards 2018.
The Kilkenny businesswoman is one of 10 impressive women who have made the cut in the Start-up of the Year category.
IMAGE Magazine received over 400 entries for the awards. Laura’s remarkable work ethic and successful business story won the judges over. After leaving a job in the property industry to pursue her dream, Laura headed to Ballymaloe Cooking School where she also met her husband and business partner Rory Gannon. From there, Laura and Rory (pictured) moved to France to learn the Pâtissier’s art from the experts for two years.
The duo then moved to London, where they worked in Michelin and five-star establishments mastering her skill. Having always wanted to return home and establish a business that encompassed their vast experience abroad, CakeFace Pastry in Irishtown, Kilkenny, was born.
CakeFace is located on Kilkenny’s medieval mile. Along with their outstanding cakes, pastries and desserts, they offer a range of gourmet sandwiches using local produce on sourdough baguettes. Located beside their café in Irishtown is the CakeFace Lab where they develop and design their dessert creations
The winners for the IMAGE Magazine Awards will be announced on Monday, November 19 at The Clayton Hotel, Burlington Road, Dublin 4.
